The city of Marrakech is situated in
the west center of the kingdom and
in the heart of the Haouz plain. It
deploys an area of nearly 250 km².
Bordered in the north by the little
Jbilet Mountains (strongly recovered
shale crossed by quartz veins), the
city is dominated by the Mid-Atlas
in the east and in the south, by the
impressive relief of the High Atlas
in the south, culminating with the
Toubkal mountains (highest peak in
North Africa) up to 4165 m. In the
west, Marrakech opens onto the
Haha/Chiadma limestone plateau
towards the Atlantic littoral.
